Nougat
Nougat doesn't get a lot of love. I can see why. When you buy it from a store, it is not good. It has the texture and flavor of a rock. It looks like something your grandma brings out every year at the holiday (and you know it's last year's piece staring you in the eye).
Fresh nougat is not like that. It smells of honey and is filled with toasted almonds, pistachio and dried cherry (at least in this instance). It is chewy but the chewiness is broken up by the crispiness of the nuts and the tartness of the cherry.
I give you fresh nougat!
